How to Duplicate a Page or Post in WordPress (2 Easy Ways)

Sometimes you may need to copy an existing page and use it to create another one. Building a similar page from scratch might be a time consuming process, so the fastest way is to clone a page and adjust it.

1. How to duplicate a page/post without a plugin?

It’s pretty simple. Starting with WordPress 5.0 you can copy all the content from a page or post directly in Gutenberg editor.

Here is how to do it:

1. Go to Pages – All pages or Posts – All Posts
2. Click on Edit on the page or post you want tot duplicate
3. Click on 3 dots in the upper right corner
4. Click on Copy all content

That’s it. Now create a new page or post and paste the copied content to your new page. WordPress will copy all the blocks and their content, so your new page will keep the same visual appearance and content as your old page.

2. How to duplicate a page/post using a plugin?

If you need to quickly duplicate multiple pages or posts and don’t want to manually copy/paste the content, using a plugin might be a great solution.

For this, you will need to install and activate the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin.

Once activated you can go ahead and configure the plugin. Go to Settings – Duplicate Post. Here you’ll have 3 sections:

• Permissions – define who can copy pages and what post types to copy
• Display – select where you want to display the clone feature

If you’re on a rush, you can leave the default settings and proceed to page/post duplication right away. Here is how to do it:

1. Go to Pages – All pages or Posts – All Posts
2. Identify the page or post you want to duplicate and click on Clone
3. The plugin will duplicate the page or post and create it in draft status.
